About Sensle
Sensle is a free daily word game where you guess a hidden secret word — but unlike Wordle, you are not guessing the letters. You are guessing the meaning. Every word you try comes back with a “warmth” score that tells you how close in meaning your guess is to the answer. Warmer means closer; colder means you’re wandering off. There is one shared puzzle per day, the same for every player in the world, and a brand-new word every midnight in your local time.
▶ Play today’s puzzleHow to play
- There is one secret word today, identical for everyone.
- Type any word and submit it. You won’t be told any letters — instead you’ll see how close in meaning your guess is to the secret word.
- Warmth is a similarity score from cold to blazing hot. The higher it is, the nearer your guess sits to the answer’s meaning.
- If your guess is among the 1,000 nearest words to the answer, you’ll also see its rank, and a bar fills up as you close in on rank #1.
- Try to solve it in as few guesses as possible. Beat par for the day, then share your heat grid with friends. Find the exact word to win.
Casual mode vs Classic mode
You can switch modes any time with the toggle at the top of the game.
😊 Casual (default)
Built for everyone. Casual shows you a category hint for the day — for example “food or drink 🍽️” or “an animal 🐾” — so you have a sensible place to start, and it offers adaptive hints when you get stuck. It’s the friendliest way in, and it’s where most people should begin.
🧠 Classic
Pure and hint-free. No category, no help — just you, your vocabulary, and the warmth score. This is the harder, Semantle-style challenge for players who want it raw.
Strategy tips
- Think in concepts, not spelling. Letters don’t matter at all here. If “ocean” comes back warm, the answer lives in that neighbourhood — try “wave”, “tide”, “beach”, “sailor”, “storm”.
- Use warmth as a compass. When a guess jumps warmer, push further in that direction. When it goes cold, back up and branch somewhere else.
- Change part of speech. If nouns stall, try a related verb or adjective. Meaning-space connects them in ways spelling never would.
- Lean on the category in Casual mode to narrow a huge space fast before you fine-tune.
- Don’t fear “wrong” guesses — even a cold word tells you where the answer isn’t, which is real information.
How the “meaning” score works
Sensle measures meaning using word embeddings — a technique from natural language processing where every word is represented as a list of numbers (a vector) learned from how words are actually used across billions of sentences. Words that appear in similar contexts end up close together in this space: “king” sits near “queen”, “coffee” near “tea”. The warmth score is simply how close your guess’s vector is to the secret word’s vector. That’s why “canine” can score hot for “dog” even though they share almost no letters — they share meaning. Everything runs entirely in your browser; there is no account and no server tracking your play.
